Gymnastics For Little Ones

From the moment they take their first steps, your little one can learn to hop, skip, jump, balance, spin and swing. Gymnastics helps to develop strength, coordination and flexibility as well as improving fitness.

Jolly Gymnastics classes do all of that in a friendly environment where little ones can burn off energy, make friends and, most importantly, have a jolly time.

An Affiliated Club of

QUALIFIED COACHES

We ensure that all of our coaches have British Gymnastics qualifications to the level of the classes they teach. All Jolly Gymnastics coaches have enhanced DBS, Safeguarding training and First Aid qualifications.

PROFICIENCY AWARDS

In our structured classes, all of our Jolly Gymnasts and Jolly Tots are given the chance to work towards British Gymnastics’ Proficiency Awards three times a year, showing off what they’ve learnt and how they’re improving.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

We have adopted British Gymnastics’ policies and follow their guidelines to keep your little ones safe in the gym. We also have our own Policies and a Code of Conduct which you can download here.

INSURANCE

As a British Gymnastics club, we have comprehensive insurance for the activities we offer. By becoming British Gymnastics members, our Jolly Gymnasts are also protected whilst they are taking part in the sport.

Who for? From walking to age 4…

What is it? A semi-structured parent & toddler class…

As soon as you step in the gym, we get started with a fun game to break the ice and warm us up. Jolly Tots are then free to explore our mini gymnastics equipment at their own pace, under your supervision. This time is the perfect opportunity for you and your little one to play together, meet other people and get to know our friendly coaches. We are on hand to keep an eye throughout, and may suggest one or two skills which you can help your child with. At the end of the session we come back together to cool down and try out our hand apparatus or sing a gymnastics action song. Everyone leaves with a smile!

What is it? A structured parent & toddler class…

If, with your help, your Jolly Tot can follow some instruction (most of the time!) then they’re ready to have a go at our structured class. Take part in a fun themed warm up and then we’ll visit each apparatus where our coaches will introduce you to a circuit of activities you can try with your little one. We’ll assess our Jolly Tots’ progress three times a year when they’ll have the chance to achieve one of British Gymnastics’ Pre-school Proficiency Awards.

Who for? Age 3 to 4 years…

What is it? A structured independent class… SEE DETAILS FOR COVID-19 CHANGES

As a stepping stone towards our school-aged classes, these classes would normally be for Jolly Tots who are happy to have a go whilst parents have a well-earned rest and watch on from Reception. However, due to the size of reception area and COVID-19, parents will be required to support their child in the gym (not spectating!). Activities are structured exactly the same as Stage 2 but groups are smaller and children learn to work with coaches independently. We encourage Jolly Tots to take turns and support each other, introducing discipline in a very fun way. Tots will have the chance to work towards British Gymnastics’ Pre-school Proficiency Awards three times a year.

Due to the size of our reception area and COVID-19, parents will be required to support their child in the gym and assist with wiping down apparatus between gymnasts (not spectating!)  Jolly Gymnastics’ exciting sessions always start with a game and end with reflection about what we enjoyed most or what amazing new achievements the group should be proud of. We visit a different equipment set-up each week and build on strength, shaping and technique to learn the basic gymnastics skills. Three times a year, we’ll work towards British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards, and there are opportunities for all Jolly Gymnasts to enter our friendly Club Competition.

Meet the Team

Erin Madden (nee Jolly)

HEAD COACH

Erin Madden

Erin competed regionally as a gymnast as a child, and still likes to give the odd cartwheel a try when no-one is watching!

She previously worked for British Gymnastics and has been coaching gymnastics herself for 15 years, teaching pre-schoolers right up to adults (she finds that children are much better behaved!).

Erin has a 2 year old little boy of her own, who loves to do ‘nastics in the living room!

Gemma Page

WELFARE OFFICER

Gemma Page

Gemma is Jolly Gymnastics’ Welfare Officer and can be contacted if you have any concerns or questions at all about a child’s welfare at gymnastics. Gemma has completed Safeguarding training as part of her full-time work and is soon to undertake British Gymnastics’ Time to Listen course.

Gemma is a parent of a Jolly Gymnast herself so understands how important it is to you that they are well looked after.
